My History
My name is Zachary Bartlett and I was born in a small town called Harwich in Massachusetts. I was raised in that area until midway through High School when my family and I moved to a suburb of Boston.
I graduated from High School and went on to UMass Dartmouth but things didn't work out and I took some time to travel. My travels led me to the Bay Area and now I live in San Francisco and attend City College.
My major is CNIT with a focus on Front-End Web Development and I plan to also overlap a focus in Cybersecurity after I receive my Associates Degree. In my free time I play a lot of video games and tinker with computers.
In the future, I hope to be adept at building and maintaining websites and networks.
My History With Web Dev
I am 33 years old and my personal road to web development has been a long one. Originally, after High School, I wanted to major in history but that didn't pan out and life had other plans.
Around 2017 I started getting heavy into gaming and the drive to design video games led me towards learning to code. I started going to school for a general degree in Computer Science.
At a certain point I took a turn towards cybersecurity and web development and I changed my major. My best friend was a self taught web-developer and I found it fascinating.
My friend also got me into a game called Magic: The Gathering. Its a fantasy card game and many of the cards are worth quite a bit of money. I instantly loved the strategy and the game itself,
but the secondary market was also very interesting and he taught me the ins and outs of selling valuable Magic cards on the site TCGPlayer. I created a clever store name and began a hobby that would last close to a year.
The site itself was very cool and is the central hub for buying and selling many different kinds of cards in that genre. I'm very interested in how complex payment systems are built into
sites like this with thousands of vendors and even more buyers. It gets even more complicated if cryptocurrency is accepted, and I can't wait to learn how to build and operate these systems.
There are also price metrics created from purchase data and other factors that is constantly changing. These elements are also built into the website and need to be accurate because most
will rely on this information to guage the prices of any card at any given time.
Go check out the website if you are trying to get into Magic or Collectible sales. Or if you are just interested, check out the site TCGPlayer
