CNIT 132A - Advanced HTML & CSS

About Me

My name is Shase Hernandez. This is my 4th semester here at CCSF. I am currently working on a number of certificates in the CNIT program as I strive to always improve and become a better version of myself. Virtually every course I've taken has been with our professor.

Most of the classes I've taken have been in the CNIT department but I've also taken courses in the Computer Science department. I've been thinking about also completing the degree requirements for the CNIT program, but having a full-time job makes it near impossible to attend in-person courses, of which some of the courses are.

I received my Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Music Composition. I find a lot of similarities between music composition and web design. There is a need to problem solve, create, adapt, plan, and understand how different parts synthesize together to create one cohesive whole.

I've managed websites for the entirety of my professional career primarily in the non-profit sector. It's hard work, but I love it.

Knowledge and use of Google Analytics has been a requirement in every job I've had. It is a wonderful tool and a powerful one. Admittedly, I feel a bit disappointed by Google Analytics 4 (GA4) after the sunset of Universal Analytics (Google Analytics 3). But I have faith that it will continue to grow. GA4 is in its infancy and will be developed for years to come.

Note Regarding GA4 Google Analytics

The Google Analytics logo comprised of a series of vertical bars of orange and the words 'Google Analytics'

I've implemented Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager. To make it easier to place on each page, and in the event there is a change needed (though unlikely), the code for the Tag Manager implementation lives in its own JS file (see the GA4 JavaScript file) so I can make the change in one place. I've written code so that when the tag successfully loads it loads a message in console and displays the initial dataLayer. If the code fails, both messages will fail to display.
